Jungal

Say It

Jungal has the heart of John Butler, the soul of Amy Winehouse, and the power of Ani DiFranco. Jungal are three powerful young women who create their own brand of Australian-flavoured indie roots music. Their energetic live performance and catchy, posit I've songwriting comes to life through three harmonious voices creating the unique and powerful‘Jungal sound', setting these girls apart from other female acts of their kind. Their musical flair is flaunted as each song is varied in sound and style, but all are underlain with the organic roots of Jungal– powerful, unique and female.

“[The girls of Jungal] work so well together; their voices and harmonies… It’s one of those things that’s just meant to be.” (Hannah of Little Fish, JOY FM)

The Sister Connection. The underlying tie that binds Leisha Jungalwalla (guitars), Jessie Jungalwalla (drums), and Victoria Beard (bass) together is the unbreakable sister connection , which can be seen and heard throughout their music and elevates during Jungal‘s
passionate live performance. Sisters Leisha and Jessie began playing in bands together in their teens and quickly added adopted sister Victoria Beard’s sounds into the mix.

"Three girls. Three genres . A really large amount of awesomeness." (Paige X Cho, Beat Magazine, Valleyarm)

Early 2010 saw the sell out launch of Jungal’s debut studio album ‘This Crooked Track’, produced by Robyn Mai (John Butler Trio, Nick Cave and The Bad Seeds) at Woodstock Studios, followed by successful tours across Canada and East Coast Australia. Their politically-charged single ‘Say It’ received ample radio play on Triple J, Triple RRR, and PBS, among others . National media attention was also received by Inpress (This Crooked Track named album of the year in Inpress writers poll), Scene Magazine and a front cover spot on Southern Star.

“Jungal is an admirable example of an all-female indie roots group staying true to the genre that they love.” (Chris Chinchilla, Inpress)

2011 contains both national and inter national tours, back to Canada with a string of festivals, headlining the Raise the Roof Womens Fest, then returning home to tour Oct-Jan. These girls have a good sense of their direction and unique sound, with a determination to make their mark. Get a taste of the new powerful female presence prowling the global music scene.
