Melody Moon
Melody Moon appears like a fresh breeze on Australia's Alternative Folk scene. Her Bjork-esque vocals expose a raw heart and enticing vulnerability that lends itself to daring cello lines, passionate harmonies and sweeping bursts of trumpet.
Emerging from the Great Ocean Road in 2010 to record her debut EP Little Hopes, Moon created a stir on Melbourne’s music scene. She swiftly hit the festival circuit playing at festivals such as Folk Rhythm & Life, Anglesea Music Festival and the Renaissance Village Festival.
In 2011 she toured the East Coast in her beloved ’74 Kombi attracting attention at markets, pubs, festivals and live on radio. Her song Out of the City hit the top 10 on the Amrap's AirIt charts in June; being one of the most popular songs played on community radio around Australia.
Her ability to captivate her audience with her moody tones, insightful lyrics and sweet emotion is proving a clear indication of the potential this young songstress holds.
“…more honest and grounded than her peers”- David Hennessy, The Dwarf
"She is someone to look out for in cosy local venues and at festivals in future.” – Peter Dawson, Trad & Now Magazine
Now based back in Melbourne after recording her second EP Carried Away, she’s surfaced from the studio bearing an exciting new line-up of guitar, cello, keys, trumpet, ukulele, harmonica, double bass and percussion. Carried Away will be released on June 29th and available on itunes and through the website- www.melodymoon.com.au
