The world's favourite indie twins are back in Australia, showcasing both their latest release, Sainthood, and their back catalogue.
Though they're sisters first and foremost, the songs that Tegan and Sara write are more than just a family matter. They're the result of two like-minded artists and songwriters coming together to create a finished product that is far greater than the sum of its parts. Their songs contain an obvious mutual understanding and chemistry that is often comparably absent in other two-piece acts.

Being Canada's most famous identical sisters, they've faced a barrage of dubious questions ever since they started out. The fact that many of these questions have had nothing to do with their music is not something that sits well with them. As they've frequently stated in the past, Tegan and Sara want to be judged on their music, not on their sexuality, or even the fact that they're sisters. So it's just as well the music they make is good.

The pair released their debut album, Under Feet Like Ours, independently in 1999, not long after they were signed by Neil Young's record label. They sprang to mainstream attention in 2004 when their single, Walking With a Ghost (from the album, So Jealous), was covered by The White Stripes. Since then they've firmly established themselves in indie rock/folk circles. As Spin magazine noted about the pair's latest album, Sainthood, "Tegan and Sara's music may no longer be the stuff of teens, but its strength remains in how much it feels like two people talking".
