Yves Klein Blue: About The Future Tour
Back to the Beat Gig Guide
Yves Klein Blue's debut EP was entitled Yves Klein Blue Draw Attention to Themselves, and the name certainly worked. One of the hottest young bands on the local music circuit, YKB have been breaking hearts and garnering loyal fans at each and every show. Fronted by the very suave Michael Tomlinson, YKB are completed by guitarist Charles Sale, bassist Sean Cook and drummer Chris Banham.
The group first appeared on the Australian indie-rock scene in 2007 when they took out the top spot at MTV's Kickstart competition and were named a Next Crop band by Triple J. The awesome foursome have since gone on to bigger things, like Pyramid Rock and Big Day Out, as well as supporting slots for the Grates, the Fratellis and the Living End. Their 2009 release, Ragged and Ecstatic, was highly praised for its cheeky attitude, catchy pop hooks and infectiously happy vocals.
It's all really coming together now for the Brisbane band and 2010 looks like it's all about the future. Franz Ferdinand and La Roux have both invited the Queenslanders to open for them on their upcoming Australian tours, the band are also co-headlining the under-age Push Over festival alongside Kisschasy. Alongside all this, they're out on the road with their very own About the Future tour. The group have revealed they've been busy writing new material so expect to hear some of those new tracks as they make their way around the country.
