The White Stripes Return With Tilda Swinton As Drummer

Seminal garage rock duo The White Stripes have announced their return with a surprise replacement for reclusive former drummer Meg White.

Recording for the first time since their breakup in 2011, The White Stripes will release new material with actress Tilda Swinton taking the helm behind the drumkit.

Announcing the duo's return, White released the following statement. "The White Stripes are, and always have been, me and my sister. Now The White Stripes with my other biological sister, Tilda Swinton."

Swinton adds, speaking from a glass box at MOMA, "White's roots are routed to the crossroads. Crossroads can reveal themselves to be mobius. And here we are, re-routed to the roots of Jack White as he rediscovers his roots."

The new lineup of the White Stripes have already recorded their new LP, entitled Evangelical Trout, at White's Third Man Studios. No tour plans have been announced

Evangelical Trout will be released this Record Store Day exclusively on 12" reclaimed ivory.
