Punk: New music from Tom Lyngcol, DOA, and Turnstile

Tom Lyngcoln of The Nation Blue and Harmony has announced an upcoming debut solo album and accompanying tour. Entitled Doming Home, the record is due out Tuesday February 27 on his own label Solar/Sonar. Catch him playing two shows at Longplay in Melbourne on Saturday March 17 and Sunday March 18.
Two new acts have been added to the upcoming Melbourne Download festival, replacing Alpha Wolf and Cursed Earth who are no longer appearing on the lineup. Joining the likes of Nails, Clowns, Bad Cop/Bad Cop, NOFX, Suicidal Tendencies and many more, will be High Tension and Make Them Suffer.
Tasmanian emo-rockers Luca Brasi have announced a short run of east coast shows back in their natural element of small pubs, following appearances at Laneway Festivals and sell-out headline shows around the country. Joined by newcomers A. Swayze and the Ghosts and Isla Ka, all three bands will hit up The Tote on Friday March 23. Tickets are on sale now and will no doubt go quick.
Long-running melodic punk rockers Good Riddance have announced a national tour this April. Continuing to tour on the back of 2015’s Peace in Our Time, the band will play the Corner Hotel on Friday April 27. Tickets are on sale now.
Canadian punk originators DOA have announced the upcoming release of a new record, their first since 2015’s Hard Rain Falling. Yet to be titled, it has been reported that former Black Flag vocalist Ron Reyes has contributed vocals to a number of the tracks on the album. They’re currently celebrating their 40th year as a band, having last toured Australia in 2013.
In a recent interview with Joel Gausten, Bad Brains frontman HR has revealed that the iconic band is working on a new album, their first since 2012’s Into the Future. “Any day now, we're scheduled to go into the studio and do some more work on a new album. The greatest album that we did, Into the Future, came off great, and I really like working with the fellas," explained HR in a rare interview. The band has reportedly also added extra guitarist Chogyi Lama to the band, joining founding guitarist and songwriter Dr. Know.
Grunge-punk icons L7 have released a new video and single, following up their comeback single ‘Dispatch from Mar-A-Lago’. Entitled ‘I Came Back to Bitch’, the band returns with their own brand of relentless hard rock/punk, losing nothing in their fifteen-year absence. While the band hasn’t announced the upcoming release of a full album, they’re currently signed to indie-punk label Don Giovanni for current and future releases. The band last toured Australia in 2016.
Genre-bending hardcore rockers Turnstile have announced the upcoming release of their second full-length record. Entitled Time & Space, the album is their first recorded output since 2016’s Nonstop Feeling. It’s due out Monday February 26 on Roadrunner Records.
