Punk: Cursed Earth hit the road and new Camp Cope

Former At the Drive-In guitarist and founding member Jim Ward’s post-ATDI project Sparta have announced the release of a new single, their first output since 2012. Not taking part in the most recent ATDI reunion due to undisclosed reasons, the vocalist/guitarist had been allegedly prevented from releasing new music with Sparta during his time in the reunited ATDI from 2012. The new track is entitled ‘Graveyard Luck’, available to stream online now. Ward has reportedly stated that there will be a new album and touring on the way next year.

Perth hardcore heavyweights Cursed Earth have announced a national tour in support of their recently released debut album on UNFD. Joined by Byron Bay’s Shackles, both bands will tour the east coast this December. Catch them both at The Tote on Saturday December 9.

A 40th-anniversary reissue of Ramones’ seminal 1977 album Rocket to Russia has been announced by reissue and archival specialists Rhino Records. Arguably the band’s strongest and most cohesive effort, featuring some of their best known songs and the debut of drummer Marky Ramone, the reissue will feature a remastered and remixed version of the album, plus alternate takes and unreleased tracks from the album sessions. Notably, the album will feature a ‘tracking mix’ of the album – a stripped down raw version of the takes more closely resembling how they were recorded straight to tape in the studio with minimal studio processing. The reissue will be available next month via Rhino Records.

Melbourne favourites Camp Cope have released a brand new single entitled ‘The Opener’, taken from their as yet unannounced second album. The single marks their first release of new material since their late 2016 single ‘Keep Growing’. Catch the new track streaming online now, with more information on the new album to come.

Canadian post-hardcore sludge nerds KEN Mode have released a new track on a flexi-disc 7” record, included in this month’s issue of US magazine Decibel. Entitled ‘Fractures in Adults’, the track is thankfully also available to stream via the band’s Soundcloud page. Following up their 2013 Nerve EP, the track is reportedly taken from pre-production recordings of the band’s as yet untitled upcoming 2018 full-length.

Reunited Boston hardcore legends American Nightmare (also known as Give Up the Ghost) have released a teaser video via Rise Records with the word ‘February’. It’s a fair assumption that is referring to the release of a new album, marking the first release of new music from the band since 2003’s Give Up the Ghost. The band broke up shortly after, however reunited in 2011 and have played a handful of shows each year.
