Norah Jones : Miriam

Against the odds, Norah Jones has overcome the overly-flogged jazz-lite adult contemporary death sentence that was her debut album. Her too-silky voice is dusted with a little distortion on Miriam, the first single from her latest record, Little Broken Hearts. Norah’s piano is also masked in this song, clanking and sonorous but muddled amongst rumbling drums and vibrating strings. Overall, the effect is sulky and atmospheric, and blessedly very cool. She has an angelic voice, but her music has been hard to like in the past. It’s easy to like here.
