21 Savage has also jumped on the new Mortal Kombat trailer.

Cardi B, Kendrick Lamar and Childish Gambino lead 2019 Grammy nominations

The Grammy nominations have dropped with hip hop proving to have been a dominant force in music through 2018. This year, Kendrick leads the list with eight nominations to his name, Drake holds seven, while Cardi B and Childish Gambino share five nominations a piece.

Notably, the Album of the Year Grammy is heavily hip-hop/R&B dominated, with records by Drake, Cardi B, Kendrick Lamar, H.E.R. and Janelle Monáe all up for the top honour. Elsewhere, artists including Post Malone, Ella Mai, Travis Scott, Anderson .Paak and 6LACK are nominated for Grammys (Mac Miller also scoring one for Swimming), while Jorja Smith and Chloe x Halle make strong entries in the Best New Artist category. Not just showing off strength within the hip hop realm, artists like Drake, Cardi B and Kendrick Lamar have all successfully crossed into the mainstream pop charts over the last few years and this year’s Grammy noms prove their power.

The Grammys are being held in Los Angeles on February 10th - if you want to check the full list of nominees out, visit www.grammy.com.

Ice Cube returns with new album ‘Everythang's Corrupt’

West coast rap icon Ice Cube has delivered his long-awaited new album in Everythang’s Corrupt, an album that has been in the works for years and the rapper’s first new release since 2010. Originally slated for a 2014 release, Ice Cube’s tenth studio record was subject to many rainchecks, as other projects including Straight Outta Compton popped up on Cube’s timeline.

The album also features Too $hort on ‘Ain’t Got No Haters’, a strong follow up to the already released singles ‘Arrest The President’ and ‘That New Funkadelic’. Sitting heavy at 16 tracks, the album goes in hard as Cube takes on everything from the US administration, a corrupt justice system and US police force to earning money and creating a legacy in a legit and honourable way.

21 Savage soundtracks new 'Mortal Kombat' trailer

Fans are still waiting on 21 Savage to come through with a new album (originally expected last Friday), but in the meantime, the rapper has released a new taste of what he’s been up to, in the now-released song ‘Immortal’.

Released as part of the trailer for the upcoming Mortal Kombat 11 film (due out in April), the song goes hard against the onscreen fight that is no doubt going to be setting the standard for the rest of the film – fans of the franchise are in for a good time.

21 Savage’s new album is title I Am > I Was, and while ‘Immortal’ isn’t known to be on the official track list yet, its sound indicates a hard edge from the rapper and developed flow.
