Herbie Hancock announced as Melbourne International Jazz Festival headliner

Get ready to groove.

Melbourne International Jazz Festival just got a little more jazzier, as Herbie Hancock has just been revealed as this year's headlining act.

The modern jazz legend will be heading to Arts Centre Melbourne for two nights as the final act of the festival this year. Hancock's household name stems from his illustrious six-decade career, earning himself 14 Grammy awards along the way. His jazz standards have spread far and wide, with tunes like 'Cantaloupe Island' and 'Chameleon' played everywhere from the finest jazz clubs to the rehearsal rooms of high schools. With a flexible range of genres under his belt, Hancock has shared the stage with other icons including Tina Turner, Stevie Wonder and even Snoop Dogg.

Hancock was also a guest at the 2015 Melbourne International Jazz Festival, joining forces with jazz piano legend Chick Corea. It was the first time in 37 years that the dynamic duo toured together and it no doubt made for a groovalicious gig.

Herbie Hancock will be bringing the beat to Arts Centre Melbourne on Saturday June 8 and Sunday June 9. For tickets, head to the jazz festival website.
