The Flying Saucer Launches
So here's the deal: I have lived on the northern side of the Yarra for all of my existence.
It's been rad. I know where all the best scumbag-chic watering holes are and I can probably take you in a fight. But it's not an exclusive relationship we're in, and with the southside nightlife set to become even more exciting, I'm pretty sure I could be tempted to make the journey over, with the collaborative efforts between the Caravan Club in Oakleigh and its Carnival of Suburbia festival resulting in what's set to be a busy and buzzing new hotspot, The Flying Saucer.
Located on the thriving Glen Huntly Road in the laid-back, trendy surrounds of Elsternwick, close to the station and the carnival home Elsternwick Park, the venue features all manner of delights, including an art deco interior, a bluestone fireplace and a kitchen and the promise of everything from contemporary music and cabaret, spoken word, burlesque, comedy, theatre and more.
It's set to launch in August with the reunion of Joe Camilleri's The Revelators on Sunday August 5.
