Danny Widdicombe : Find Someone

Queensland-based multi-instrumentalist, vocalist, songsmith and charismatic live performer Danny Widdicombe is an integral part of entertaining ARIA Award nominated roots combo The Wilson Pickers. He has also played guitar with luminaries such as Bernard Fanning, Karl Broadie and fellow Wilson Picker Andrew Morris, toured Oz as part of Tim Rogers' Temperance Union and released the solo albums The Transplant Tapes (2006), Dominoes (2009) and this current ten-track slice of imaginative eclecticism Find Someone. Widdicombe, a warm, playful and thoughtful performer, lyricist and musician released The Transplant Tapes following a bone marrow transplant.

Sadly, he is currently facing another battle with cancer. As with his previous solo work, Widdicombe imbues Find Someone with his passion for a diverse range of musical styles and approaches. There are bursts of wailing blues-rock guitar (Banyan Tree), gentle and atmospheric psych-tinged rock (We All Do Better and No One Else) left-field folk pop (Find Someone) and dark yet dreamy alt-country (Black Magic). The album features a rich tapestry of sounds generated by guitar, banjo, fiddle, bass, drums, keyboards, synth, piano, mandolin, cello and double bass. Widdicombe, ably backed on Find Someone by a host of guest musicians including Andrew Morris, has demonstrated once again that he is one of Australia's most exciting troubadours.
