New York post-punks Self Defense Family have announced an Australian tour in August/ September in support of their upcoming record Heaven is Earth, to be released on June 30 via Deathwish. In addition to their previously announced Poison City Weekender appearance, the band will perform their own all ages show at Viva Hate on September 7.
Originally known as The Ruts, the highly influential UK punk/ reggae outfit have announced an Australia and New Zealand tour as The Ruts DC. Despite the death of lead singer Malcolm Owen in 1983, the band have reformed with a new lineup and will play Melbourne on November 14 at The Evelyn Hotel. Tickets via Oztix.
The Destroy Music tour will return to Australian shores in August, featuring Sydney hardcore mainstays Hellions, with special American guests Capsize and ‘68. Hellions continue to support the release of their most recent album Indian Summer, released earlier this year. The bands will play an all ages show at Arrow on Swanston on August 26 and an over-age show at Ding Dong Lounge on August 27.
In an unusual pairing, North Carolina Egyptian-themed technical death metallers Nile and long running Massachusetts metallic hardcore outfit Unearth have announced an Australian tour in November. The bands will play an under-18s afternoon show at The Corner Hotel on November 21 and an over-age show the same night, with local support from Feed Her to the Sharks and Whoretopsy.
Toronto’s Fucked Up have announced the recording of an upcoming live album. The band will record a live set on July 5 at Jack White’s Blue Room, directly to acetate. The record will be out via Jack White’s Third Man Records.
New Jersey alternative punk rockers Titus Andronicus have released an online mixtape to promote their upcoming album The Most Lamentable Tragedy, out July 28 on Merge Records. The mixtape features new tracks, demos and outtakes.
Tennessee cowpunks Lucero have announced their upcoming record All A Man Should Do, out September 28. Lucero’s last album Women & Work was released in 2012.
Former Dead Kennedys frontman and Alternative Tentacles founder Jello Biafra has released a stream of his recent live album Walk on Jindal’s Splinters. Performed by Jello Biafra and the New Orleans Raunch and Soul All-Stars, the record features soul and blues standards performed at the New Orleans Mardi Gras in 2011.
Following over a year of consistent touring and live shows, legendary folk-punks Against Me! Have announced an upcoming live album 23 Live Sex Acts by Against Me!, out September 4 on the band’s own label Total Treble Music.
