Cherry Awards announce nominations for 2016, lock in special presentation show

The very best local and international acts to have performed at Cherry Bar over the past year are set to receive their rightful homage, with awards spanning the best performers from each night of the week.

In line for the Best Thursday Soul Act award are The Harlots, The Bamboos, Kylie Auldist, Cookin’ On 3 Burners, Deep Street Soul, Kattimoni, Andrea Marr, The Sugarcanes, Sweethearts and Fulton Street.
For Best Saturday Act, one of the likes of Zombitches, Amyl & The Sniffers, Draught Dodgers, Elm Street, Wod, From Oslo, Bikini Cops, Child will be recognised while nominations for the Best Cherry Sunday Blues Act feature Emma Gardner Band feat. Manny Seddon, Chris Russell’s Chicken Walk, Ivan Zarr, Crown of Thorns, Phil Para Band, Spoonful, Steve Boyd’s Rum Reverie and Three Kings.
There is also an award for Best International Act where one of The Troggs, Richie Ramone, Kadavar, Rival Sons, Endless Boogie, The Sword, Truckfighters, Acid King, The Sigit, Supersuckers and Grant Hart will be recognised.
Among other awards is the 2016 Cherry Act Of The Year, the Cherry Massive Award, the Cherry Lifetime Achievement Award and even the Best Human Being In Melbourne Award.

Draught Dodgers and Stiff Richards will perform at Cherry's presentation night when it goes down on Thursday December 28.
