Brunswick Music Festival add International Women's Day show to 2018 program

Adding to their already packed lineup, Brunswick Music Festival has announced a stellar show to celebrate International Women’s Day on Thursday March 8.

The show will include the standout talents of Stella Angelico, Sophie Koh, and in a display of utterly beautiful storytelling and musicianship at Brunswick Mechanics Institute.

The festival has also announced their first ever retrospective in Songs of 3056, celebrating the sounds of the suburb with a special concert on Friday March 16.

Directed by Xani Kolac (The Twoks), the show will feature Thando, Joshua Tavares, Simon Burke, and more. The festival is set to go down from Sunday March 4 until Sunday March 18.

This year the festival’s hub is the Brunswick Mechanics Institute and will host both performances and a new professional development series for both industry professionals old and new.

Brunswick has been recognised as the Australian suburb that houses the most songwriters and the festival features the talent from its own postcode as well as its surrounds. This year's local artists include All Our Exes Live in Texas, Benny Walker and a line-up of acts from label Psychic Hysteria.

International acts are hot this year with Masta Ace, Daymé Arocena, Hypnotic Brass Ensemble, My Bubba and Jojo Abot.

As per usual the Sydney Road street party will bring the highly trafficked area to a standstill whilst celebrating sounds, smells and sights. This year will also see the first High Tide Pool Party focussing on music, family fun and quite a few banana lounges at Brunswick Baths. Not to mention Music for the People’s collection of live acts at the Shore Reserve on Sunday March 18.

Brunswick Music Festival runs from Sunday March 4 to Sunday March 18, tickets available here.
