Ben Folds leads Melbourne Zoo Twilights lineup, playing songs by request

Dance with the animals.

The ever-popular Zoo Twilights series has made its welcome return for the summer bringing together top-notch tunes set in the Zoo's picturesque surrounds.

Leading the charge for this season comes Ben Folds, armed with a career-spanning set that'll take the form of a two-part solo show.

With nothing but his piano, the first half of the show will feature hits including Brick and Rockin' The Suburbs while the second half will be comprised of his 'Paper Aeroplane Request' set. Basically, punters will be asked to write their song requests onto a piece of paper, fold it into a plane, and launch that bad boy onto the stage for Folds to randomly select and perform.

Support will come from UK singer/songwriter Lucy Rose, whose music enjoyed a watershed moment after featuring on the hit show Girls

Capping it off, every ticket sold through Zoo Twilights goes back into Zoos Victoria’s ongoing commitment to fight the extinction of the 21 most at-risk species in Victoria, including the Eastern Barred Bandicoot which is sadly extinct in the wild.

Stay tuned for for the full lineup announcement, set to be released into the wild on Wednesday October 18.

Zoo Twilights will run at Melbourne Zoo every weekend from Friday January 26, 2018 to Saturday March 10, 2018. Ben Folds will perform on Friday February 16. Tickets and details here
