Ariel Pink is the first big reveal for Melbourne Music Week 2017

He's also letting Aussie fans here his new track Feels Like Heaven before the rest of the world.

Los Angeles songwriter Ariel Pink and his band are returning to Australia for the first time since 2015 to celebrate the release of his forthcoming album Dedicated to Bobby Jameson.

He will be performing at shows in Melbourne, Brisbane, Perth and Sydney. The Melbourne show is part of Melbourne Music Week and tickets go live Tuesday August 15.

His new track Feels Like Heaven is the first taste of the album, which is due for release on Friday September 15. Dedicated to Bobby Jameson is, as titled, dedicated to Bobby Jameson, an American singer/songwriter from the '60s who became homeless in the '70s and recently passed away in 2015.

Ariel's previous release, pom pom, was described as “full of unforgettably kaleidoscopic melodies," by SPIN, and Ariel Pink's song Round and Round was Pitchfork's #1 Record of 2010.

See Ariel Pink at Melbourne Recital Hall on Tuesday November 21. Tickets via Melbourne Recital Centre. Melbourne Music Week runs from Friday November 17 until Saturday November 25.
