Amy Shark and Courtney Barnett lead the 2018 ARIA award nominations

The two have received the highest number of ARIA nominations this year

It's been a huge year for Amy Shark and Courtney Barnett, both releasing much adored albums. Now to top it off, they are leading the pack in nominations for this year's ARIA awards.

The annual awards ceremony, held in November this year, recognises the incredible talent of the year that was in Australian music. Some ARIA awards have already been announced, such as the award for best comedy release which went to Bridie &Wyatt from the crew at ABC's Tonightly (RIP) for 'Sex Pest'.

In addition to Barnett and Shark, Aussie frontrunners who are in for a number of nominations include Pnau, Tash Sultana, Dean Lewis, Peking Duk, 5 Seconds of Summer and Troye Sivan.

The late Gurrumul has received a significant number of posthumous nominations as well, with a shot at winning album of the year, best male artist and many more for his album Djarimirri (Child of the Rainbow).

Aussie music fans will be also able to vote  for a number of awards, including best Australia live act and best international act.
