Alternative hip hop artist Astronautalist announces Australian tour

He describes his music as "historical fiction hip hop" and styled his latest album on a traditional New Orleans jazz funeral. Intrigued?

With his spoken-word rhymes, interesting blend of genres and curious origins in "battle rap", Astronautalis is one to watch. And, watch him you can, because he's coming to Australia with two Smith Street Band support shows -- including the Pool House Party in Coburg -- and five headline shows of his own.

He's been around town with Tegan and Sara, as well as securing a spot at the beautiful Mofo festival in the past, so he knows what to expect from an Australian audience.

Astronautalist's newest release, Cut The Body Loose, will make an appearance during the tour and Australian audiences will be able to experience for themselves a live take on the record that claims to "guide grievers from heavy, insurmountable suffering to a full-on raucous celebration in the streets" in imitation of a traditional New Orleans jazz festival.
