Name/Band: "The Buegs"
Define your genre in five words or less:
"Something rock with singing bits."
So, someone is walking past as you guys are playing, they then go get a beer and tell their friend about you... what do they say?
"'Why are you drinking cider?' But if you happen to be Brian Mannix, you'll say, 'Who's that little prick with all the charisma taking his shirt off?' True story."
How long have you been gigging and writing?
"About a year and a half."
What has been your favourite gig you’ve played to date?
"Probably Cherry Bar with Dancing Heals or The Toff with Canos – we had Big Papa Ryan up for a jam. He killed it!"
Which band would you most like to have a battle/showdown with?
"I would have put an end to Powderfinger but those bastards got to it before I had a chance."
What inspires or has influenced your music the most?
"Artists who are a little off the wall like Mike Patton and Bjork but also solid songwriters like Paul Dempsey and Tracy Chapman."
What do you think a band has to do these days to succeed?
"I think Solo from Horrorshow said it right: 'I juggle part time hustle like I'm living a double life and spread myself thin like a butter knife.'"
Do you have any record releases to date? What? Where can I get it?
"Yep. You can grab our debut release Blindfold online at triplejunearthed.com/thebuegs."
Why should everyone come and see your band?
"Because it increases your enjoyment and satisfaction to a mildly illegal level."
When are you playing live/releasing your album/EP/single/etc?
"We're releasing our second single Orange at Northcote Social Club on ANZAC Day Eve (Monday April 25) with Jaguar Spring and Canos. $15 on the door. Free CD to the first 100 guests!"
