60 Seconds With Kerryn Fields
Name: "Kerryn Fields."
Define your genre in five words or less:
"Soul, folk, guts and glory."
How long have you been gigging and writing?
"Moved from NZ in 2008 to start gigging in Melbourne, and began writing (pencil at first, then moved onto pen) at about six years old."
What has been your favourite gig you've played to date?
"I love all the gigs I play. The meds I take make me love everything. I'm playing at Melting Pot Songwriters in the round on Friday February 18, so that will be my next favourite."
Which band would you most like to have a battle/showdown with?
"Alanis Morissette - my first taste of music outside my parents record collection, and a serious loose unit. Perfect for a showdown."
What inspires or has influenced your music the most?
"I love my music to be fierce and free, and am inspired by Tracy Chapman, Janis Joplin, Stevie Nicks and Toni Childs."
Do you have any record releases to date? What? Where can I get it?
"I have an EP which you can grab via my website kerrynfields.com or at my shows. I also have another EP in the oven, which is due later this year."
Why should everyone come and see your band?
"Because I'm raw, gutsy and beautiful."
