MUF 2011 Is Coming!

The greatest ukulele festival in the southern hemisphere is back in 2011.

The Melbourne Ukulele Festival (MUF) presents to you five days of unadulterated ukulele mayhem and over 40 acts, beginning on February 25 and carrying on until March 1.

MUF will involve seven international guests, 14 interstate acts, 20 local legends, plus workshops, uke art, luthier fairs, ukulele picnics, kids’ events and more ukuleles than you can shake a hula at!

International guests to perform are Ukulelezaza (Belgium), Uni and Her Ukelele (USA), Paul Moore (Israel), Shelley O’Brien (Canada), Jontom (Italy), Jim D’Ville (USA), and Wellington International Ukulele Orchestra (NZ).

Australian acts travelling to Melbourne from across the Victorian borders are Tyrone (Brisbane), Renee Searles and Dusty Day (Nth. NSW), Cameron Murray (Syd), Lauren LaRouge (Syd), The Desperados (Bellingen), The Plinkers (Syd), BUMS (Brisbane Ukulele Musicians Society), BUG (Bellingen Ukulele Group), CHUM (Channel & Huon Ukulele Mob) HUG (Hobart Ukulele Group), SQuidge & The Ukastle Ukestra (Newcastle), and UroC (Ukulele Republic of Canberra).

And finally, our lovely local performers are A.J. Leonard’s Tropical Lounge, Rose Turtle Ertler, MUK (Melbourne Ukulele Kollective), Lucy Wise, Betty’s Driving Force, The Sophisticated Hulas, Mysterious Mose, SEGUE (Slightly Eclectic Guildford Ukulele Ensemble), Dino Divo, Bernard de la Coeur, Hissy Loco, Mic and Tasman Fleming, Katie Hull-Brown, Mike Jackson, Terry Chapman, John Ferguson, George O’Hara, Angie’lala, School on the Hill, and Flora and Theo. Phew!

With all these exciting performers, plus wacky workshops including Pimp My MUF 2 and MUFterchef, MUF 2011 is a Melbourne Festival not to miss out on.
