R.E.M. Announce Street Date For New Album!
R.E.M. have announced that Warner Bros. Records will release their upcoming new album Collapse Into Now on March 4.
For the new album, the band has re-teamed with Grammy Award-winning producer Jacknife Lee, who also produced R.E.M.'s acclaimed 2008 album Accelerate.
Collapse Into Now was recorded in New Orleans at the Music Shed, and in Berlin at the famed Hansa Studios, where several legendary albums have been made, including David Bowie's Heroes, U2's Achtung Baby and Iggy Pop's Lust For Life.
The album also features some very special guests, and the band has revealed they are Patti Smith, guitarist Lenny Kaye, Peaches, Eddie Vedder, and The Hidden Cameras frontman Joel Gibb.
Yesterday, a free download of Discoverer, the first song on the album, was made available to fans who signed up for R.E.M.'s email list at www.remhq.com.
Those who pre-order Collapse Into Now on iTunes from December 21 will receive an instant download of It Happened Today.
Collapse Into Now will be released on March 4 2011. Not long to wait!
