Artist Support Officer At The Push

The Push is a youth music organisation that produces all-ages events and other programs and provides advice to young people about careers in the music industry and the staging all ages events. Further information is available at thepush.com.au.

The Position:
This position supports the programs and activities of The Push that provide developmental opportunities for young people aged 12 to 25 who are musicians, performers, composers across a range of popular musical styles or who are in behind the scenes roles like technicians, producers or managers. As a knowledgeable and skilled music industry worker, The Push Artist Support Officer will advise and support a diverse range of creative young people in their music endeavours and their career/ artistic development.

 

These efforts will assist to ensure the positioning of The Push as a leading and innovative provider of youth music, entertainment and music industry initiatives. The Push Artist Support Officer reports to the Executive Officer with program direction provided by The Push Artistic Director. This part-time employee is a valued member of The Push staff team. The suitable candidate will have a Music Industry background with technical expertise in relation to staging a music event.

 

 Key Responsibilities:

Day to day coordination of the annual FReeZA Push Start program

 

Project Coordination, funding body and sponsors

Travel to support 9 Regional Finals throughout Victoria as The Push representative

Delivery of ‘FReeZA Push Start Band Comp Grand Final’ at Push Over Festival

 

Contribute to an annual Artist Development program, including an annual ‘Push Summit’ for young performers, and other training programs, seminars and activities

 

Contribute to The Push advisory service for young performers

 

Contribute to the Push Mentoring program, including mentoring of young people as required, and support of the CD Recording project

 

Assist with the provision of services of the FReeZA Support Service as required, including contribution to advisory services, training programs, publications or events

 

Assist the Artistic Director with The Push artist booking service

 

Research and develop resources, publications, submissions and reports where required

 

Other duties as required as consistent with the position

 

Key Selection Criteria - Essential:

Demonstrated ability to effectively work with, motivate and relate well to young people

 

Demonstrated project management skills in music industry areas

 

Possess a high level of music industry experience and expertise that enables her/him to offer authoritative advice and high quality services to artists

 

An up to date knowledge of local music industry cultures, trends and issues that specifically relate to artists and audiences under the age of 25

 

An ability to establish key strategic networks

 

High level oral and written communication skills

 

Current Victorian Drivers Licence

 

Employee agrees to submit and successfully complete Working with Children check

 

Key Selection Criteria - Desirable:

A good understanding of the role of The Push and its current programs and activities

 

A broad knowledge of youth culture

 

Experience in reporting to funding bodies on project outcomes

 

Experience in fundraising

 

Experience in supporting, training, coaching or mentoring young people in their music endeavours

 

Educational or professional qualifications relevant to the position

 

Possess technical skills relevant to music artists
