A contemporary Aboriginal story told through movement, Spear is an invigorating and visually compelling work which harnesses dance as a cinematic storytelling device. Directed by Stephen Page (Artistic Director of Bangarra Dance Company), it follows the young man Djali as he explores the ancient traditions of his community and juxtaposes them in a modern world. Spanning Sydney’s gritty King Street all the way to the Australian outback, Spear is an intimate journey which follows the ever-evolving culture of Indigenous Australians, and one that prophesies their world within contemporary Australian society.
