Neon Indian

Texan indie-electronic artist Neon Indian – the brainchild of Alan Palomo – was called one of the hottest new acts of by Rolling Stone in 2010. Their latest release, Era Extraña, was written and recorded last winter in an apartment in Helsinki, Finland during its short solstice days, partly inspired by scribbled journal entries made during Palomo’s stint there alone in constant solitude. Neon Indian are playing Prince Bandroom on Friday February 24, and we have a double pass to give away. For your chance to win tell us where in the world you would go for constant solitude.

Tristan da Cunha is the most remote inhabited place in the world, plus it's pretty, so it seems like an ideal place for constant solitude only problem is you have to get approval from the town before moving in because there is no spare houses....I might consider bringing a couch to live in solitude on instead.

There is a look out in Montville, QLD where I used to go for peace. It's so beautiful to see all of the Sunshine Coast at such a great height. It is a wonderful place to relax and really be grateful for everything you have.

I would go to Antarctica for constant solitude, build myself an igloo. When the scientists arrive in summer I would wear a big white parka and pretend to be a polar bear so they would leave me alone.

space. out there even if someone right next to you shouted you wouldn't hear them, sound doesn't travel in a vacuum...

My toilet. It stinks so much (thanks to Farty McHarty, aka my hubby) that I get instant and constant solitude in there!

when i traveled to Vietnam. I road into the Dalat Mountains one crisp morning. The fog was so thick I could barely see in front of my bike, but once you get higher. It is literally just you and the amazing landscape of Vietnam. Constant solitude is an understatement. If you wanted it bad enough, you could never have to see another soul for the rest of your life. So that's where I'd be.

An empty island on the Whitsundays ;) rainforest down to the nicest beaches in the world, with sky blue water and white sand... if you get lonely, perfect party locations 10 minutes away, without interrupting the solitude ;)... + perfect opportunities for hiking, boating, jetskiing, everything a man could want

I would live in an abandoned forest ranger lookout in northern Ontario Canada so it still feels like I'm being useful, but really I would play ukulele all day, so it also still feels like I'm slacking off at work...best of both worlds. Foraging for mushrooms by day, awaiting aurora borealis at night.
