When looking for a new pair of headphones, I would look mainly into the following: comfort, quality, and price. These three, though somewhat obvious, are the main factors in the picking, and the reasonability of the three must balance out in order for me to consider them.

It's not what I look for but what I hear for......and that's noise cancelling so I can focus on the brain melting goodness of whatever I'm listening to, which is why I want to win these babies!

I look for comfort closely followed by a lack of Dr Dre branding.

I have lost faith in the quality of headphones. I don’t try to buy them anymore. I am waiting for someone or some product to prove me wrong. I have synesthesia, so I see fireworks when I hear sounds. The higher the quality of sound, the more beautiful the fireworks. But I don’t see colours no more, cos my headphones have died. I want to have headphones that deliver the smoothest bass without tinny sounds, that hug my ears instead of squeezing them, headphones that only cost me a mid-range price, that last at least 2 years, are compact, of neutral colour and most importantly, sound so beautiful, I can listen to PJ Harvey and cry, while I watch splashes and splashes of colour.

I record at home so i look for noise cancelling headphones so i can best monitor my recordings. Also, a lead thats long enough that i can walk a metre or two away from my four track without my head being jerked back by the cord.
Ok... in all honesty the biggest factor is usually price, im a sound production studentn on centrelink. These headphones would be an absolute godsend.

I could crap on about how when buying headphones i look for superior sound quality and how they must have the latest aural trickery lending to me the most reaslistic of sounds which is how the artist intended me to hear it, but thats bullshit. Going to live gigs of said artists has ruined my hearing for sonic details, I just want a decent pair of headphones that look good and pass on what sound waves my fucked up ears can hear these days. Cutting out the inane chatter of fellow metro train passengers through noise cancelling abilities would be a welcome bonus too.

Sound quality, comfort and design. I look for headphones that I can listen to OFWGKTA and then Jonsi and Creedence through. Finding a pair that can provide no distortion throughout all genres can be pretty tough. Also, something that gets me dirty looks from my Metro train neighbour. I haven't been able to find a pair that compliment my face but these look minimalistic and suave. Please?

I don't look, I listen; for rich sound, deep bass and background noise cancellation.
If I were to look, it'd be for quality price and an L shape jack. Accessories are awesome too.

Sons of Gondor! Of Rohan! My brothers! I see in your eyes the same fear that would take the heart of me! A day may come when the courage of men fails, when we forsake our friends and break all bonds of fellowship. But it is not this day. An hour of wolves and shattered shields when the age of Men comes crashing down! But it is not this day! This day has nothing to do with fighting at all! This day I tell Beat what I look for in headphones! I look for courage, for rich bass, for comfort! I look for damn-sexy looking headphones! By all that you hold dear on this good Earth, this is what I need in my headphones! Men of the West!

For home studio i look for accurate sound which will reproduce well over all listening mediums (car stereo, headphones, loud speakers and amp)

For portable and listening for enjoyment but also for home studio i look at the enjoyability of the sound quality, style/design, size, comfort, cord length, durability, quality materials used, price, portability, the cheapest possible price (secondhand, ebay, gumtree), sound isolation.

I love headphones and other than a shitty pair of ipod earphones i don't have a functioning pair at the moment.

Love the mag.

A pair of headphones that can make a 16 hour flight that little bit more bearable! I find that the most important qualities like comfort, durability, sound quality and noise-cancelling effectiveness are best tested in travel situations, whether it be on a long-haul flight, a peak hour train ride or even a morning jog.

I actually work with headphones on to keep the poor other people in the office from going crazy while im editing and listening to the same thing over and over again, i have also tried many different types of headphonesand, and these days i no longer look for brand names but a contained smooth and consistant sound from the head phones i choose.....also ones that when i walk home people might think im a Dj

Due to being a budget wise uni student, I must make the horrible confession that usually when purchasing headphones I look for a pair that sends sound through the buds for a moderate fee. But were I in less of a cheap-ass position I would look for something that gave the richest, most fantasy inducing listening experience possible! And I'd appreciate the heck out of them!

Now look back at me... My noise-cancelling headphones are drowning out all that!
And giving me top quality entertainment.

Give me clarity, give me parity, let me hear all my beatz from Tiesto to 'ole John Flaherty! I've got supersonic hearing, so enjoy the best quality to pick up every note; every nuance clearly and crisply with finely adjustable bass in particular that doesn't buzz at every turn. Price is not important, but design is too.

I look for a good fit, firm fitting yet comfortable to wear for hours. The quality of sound is crucial - to hear the bass coming through crystal clear while the noise cancelation shuts out the world for a few moments is great. I look for headphones that allow me to totally immerse myself in a song, to come close to what the band/singer/artist intends when they write and perform their music. It also helps if they're huge, telling all the stuff that wants my attention that 'this window is closed, please try the next one' in not so subtle terms.

I want .WAV quality and comfort, befitting my .MP3 income. Something that I can use to record Queen-esque style vocal tracks in my bathroom, or listen to TED talks and tapes of whale noises on the Upfield train. I think that will satisfy my needs.
