Epic! 100 Years Of Film & The Bible
Quite possibly beginning with The Queen of Sheba in 1921, the Bible has been reinterpreted via the big screen through and through since cinema began. EPIC! 100 Years Of Film And The Bible explores the fascination filmmakers from all over the world have had with the doctrine. >From Australia to Croatia, USA to Mexico, EPIC! showcases the unique and fascinating journey of the Hebrew Bible through film. Comprising mostly rare vintage movie posters, stretching as far back as 1921, the exhibition also features ephemera including movie stills, lobby cards, press books and costumes. This exhibition explores how filmmakers have been mining the Bible for drama, exoticism and eroticism, taking audacious and creative liberties to heighten the sex, theatricality and violence since the turn of last century. Thanks to the Jewish Museum of Australia we have several double passes to give away.
If you'd like to head along just tell us what was the last exhibition you attended. Can't remember? Make it up.

ACMI Game Masters...& it was pretty cool :-)
The last "exhibition" I (inadvertently) attended was a mad man exposing his tackle to the carriage on the Frankston line.
Luckily this exhibition was certainly not of biblical proportions.
If i remember correctly it was an exhibition about to animals believe in a heaven too. one of my favourite pieces was of two red lobster, having a fighting match with a ginger cat, with a komodo dragon waiting nearby to collect the loser for dinner! the words i believe in food were written across the bottom.
The Napoleon exhibition at the NGV.
The 1920's silent movie was a real eye opener.
It must have slipped past the censors at the time.
The Old Testament has been a cinematic smorgasboard for Hollywood's retelling of tales of love, lust and destruction.
I just got back from London where there was an awesome exhibition about street art on at a Hoxton gallery , It made me realise how much of a creative hub Melbourne is for artists of all kinds.
Tim Burton’s exhibition at the ACMI, what an amazingly talented man. LOVED the costumes, the drawings, the information and back story on his first short film and subsequent blockbusters. Thoroughly enjoyed it AND to the see Bat Mobil at the end was AWESOME!!!
Mesopotamia at the Melbourne Museum was great. I liked looking at archeology of the first city in the world (Iraq) and the stone carvings of battles and lions from 2500bc. Magnificent.
