Opening the festival will be the annual red carpet night, accompanied with a special screening of selected films from this year’s top 100. Following this will be festival highlights including My Mind’s Own Melody which features a score composed by Daniel Johns – his first music released since Silverchair’s 2007 album Young Modern, A Century of Lunacy: Memories of Melbourne’s Luna Park, a never-seen documentary about Luna Park, Summer DeRoche’s newest documentary Ruby, and SoundKILDA, an awards festival for Australian music videos. Nominees for SoundKILDA include Wild Things by San Cisco, Unashamed Desire by Missy Higgins and Easy Way Out by Gotye.
