Keeping the spirit of Rainbow in mind, the grants will go to projects or individuals whose work in music, arts, health and community service benefit the local community. Anyone who bought a program at this year’s festival directly contributed to the inaugural Rainbow Community Fund.
Festival director Tim Harvey applauded the move, saying, “We have a very community minded festival family who have been looking for additional ways to support the local community we have now been a part of for 19 years. We hope Rainbow, in some way, inspires that community spirit.”
Bringing together heavy hitters from both the shire and the festival, a committee made up of local community leaders and festival directors will be established to judge the applicants.
Applications open on Wednesday July 1 and will remain open until September. Winners will be notified in November.
