July Is The Month To Cabaret

100 performers, 78 performances all done over six colourful nights of pop, jazz and musical theatre... all hail the Melbourne Cabaret Festival of 2011.

The Melbourne Cabaret Festival is coming to South Melbourne's historic Emerald Hill arts and cultural precinct for its second year running, presenting non-stop cabaret from Tuesday July 19 to Sunday July 24.

The festival boasts a wide variety of entertainment including everything from comedy cabaret and New York styled acts to edgy cabaret and queer shows.

The line-up is set to include stellar performances from local and international acts including A Night With Faulty Towers, Le Gateau Chocolat, Jon Jackson, Mark Jones and Geraldine Quinn, the Moritz Light and Sound Show and the Big Gay Sunday Cabaret.

Openning the festival will be Sammy J at the Gala meanwhile, Trevor Jones will play host the Late Night Piano Bar.

The festival will also honour the words and music of iconic Aussie Paul Kelly  as they are featured in the world premiere of The Last Train - An Urban Tale Featuring The Songs Of Paul Kelly.

iPhone lovers keep your eyes peeled because The Cabaret Festival will be releasing an iPhone app in early June to guide you festival goers through the week's festivities - technology these days!

The Melbourne Cabaret Festival kicks off on Tuesday July 19 and runs until Sunday July 24 with performances all around South Melbourne's Emerald Hill arts and Culture Precinct every 15 minutes from 6.15pm 'till late. Tickets from $15 at www.melbournecabaret.com
