Book your flights and pack your togs – the program for Darwin Festival 2018 is colossal. Taking over Darwin for 18 hot days of the dry season, August will be a big month for the Top End’s city. This year’s festival showcases acts from local, national and international stages, all in celebration of the NT’s 40th year of self-governance. Artistic Director Felix Preval is excited about the lineup, and says “Darwin is a truly magical city with unique experiences… and the Festival program is a reflection of these fascinating aspects of our city.”

Highlights of the festival include: Joel Creasey, a dominating force of Australian comedy; genre-defying musical duo Electric Fields; obscene beauty queen Betty Grumble; indie-folk darling Tia Gostelow; and a 15-member strong Shania Twain choir. Are you strong enough to last through these, and all of the other 108 events on offer?

The Festival is spread across 31 venues in Darwin, with 113 events and 595 artists to keep you enriched and enlightened. In 2017, 50% of shows sold out and record crowds were in attendance – management are strongly encouraging early bookings to avoid disappointment in 2018. As for everything else, they encourage you to embody the Darwinian lifestyle and vibe, and embrace the laidback, friendly atmosphere while fostering the Top End’s incredible appetite for top-quality entertainment.
