Dark Mofo drops second 2019 lineup announcement

Briggs
By Kate Streader

Not too long now.

With Dark Mofo fast approaching, the festival program has just become even more enticing with an additional spread of musicians, art and activities announced for the festival’s seventh instalment.

Joining the program is a breadth of homegrown talent including Briggs, Kira Puru, Totally Unicorn, Pagan and These New South Whales. The first Dark Mofo lineup announcement boasted names like Sharon Van Etten, Dirty Three and FKA twigs.

On the international front, Kelsey Lu, Lonnie Holley, Phurpa and Author & Punisher will also make their way to Tasmania to perform across the three-week festival.

In addition to an eclectic program of live music performances, Dark Mofo will also showcase a myriad of visual artworks and installations by the likes of Jimmy Cauty, Tony Oursler, Julie Gough, Naomi Blacklock, S.J. Norman, Chris Henschke and many more. A new public art walk, known as the Dark Path, has been announced for the program. The walk stretches from Hobart’s Regatta Ground up through the Queen’s Domain and through the Tasmanian Botanical Gardens. Along the way are a number of commissioned works by local and international artists.

Dark Mofo’s Dionysian feast is also returning this year, taking place for eight nights over a two week period. The feast features guest chefs, over 70 food and drink stalls, live music, warming food and a kids program.
