U-Recken

Likewise, school for Yaniv was never an issue – it did however change when he discovered trance music for the first time, over a decade ago. “It was clear to me then, that it was just a matter of time before I did it properly and focused my time on it. Later on in 2003, the U-Recken project was formed. And for me, it was just about music being all the things it had to be: interesting, surprising, inviting and never boring!”

Indeed, his very raison d’ĂȘtre is to try and maintain as many organic elements in the music as possible while still keeping it trance oriented. “I admit, my music is not the perfect dance floor smasher, but if you close your eyes, you might wander into places you have never been before. If you are getting goose bumps, you know it’s the real deal.”

And the scene in his homeland is kicking at the moment too. “We’re mostly happy to see the promoters working together; there is great harmony and flow between all of them. They are working with each other, not against each other – and it’s something that comes from having years of experience I guess. It really is a truly amazing scene here.”

Production-wise, the lad has been extremely busy working on a bunch of new releases; over the next few weeks he is releasing Barbination EP on his Tree of Life label; and towards the end of the year Carol Of The Bells EP on the same imprint. There is also a cool remix EP coming as well. It is what he terms ‘a tribute to the legendary Logic Bomb,’ but there are no specific dates for this one yet. Finally – and perhaps most importantly – he is set to release his third album – a double, titled A Light At The End Of The World.

“The first CD is titled Light and will feature melodic morning tunes while the second is titled Dark and not surprisingly, will present my favourite harder, gothic tunes. And then I’m looking forward to a small vacation after I’m done! It will be released around February 2012 along with the launch of a very special website – so 2012 here we come! I always have a desire to keep writing music; a lot of it. But right now I have to concentrate and finish what’s on my plate.”

“I have always chosen to remain true to the source which for me is of course psychedelic trance. I try not to follow musical fashions, since they tend to disappear as fast as they come. So I always try to keep myself motivated by the things I do which also means believing that nothing is too important and (seriously!) there is a higher force that wants me to do what I do – I have no choices here!”

And as if that wasn’t enough to keep him busy, he also runs Cyber Oniro – a promotion group under the Tree of Life banner. “Cyber is responsible for artist branding from top to bottom. This means, that for example, all the new releases he mentioned will have video clips that are exclusive to his YouTube page. I see this as branding; and maintenance of it is very important.”

“The direction I have taken with this label is pretty intense: we have created a website that we are launching in February 2012 that allows talented artists to expose themselves for free – and I’m not talking just about musicians. The website will be called electriclife – so check it out. Also next year, we want to do a massive festival in an exotic location in Izmir, Turkey. We want it to be the Tree of Life Festival and it will feature some of the finest musicians and visual artists out there! Importantly too, we want to increase awareness about important things such as our true mission as a worldwide community.”

Finally, he adds that this is his third visit to Australia, after touching down here for the first time in 2006. “I’m looking forward to my Colour of Sound gig down in Melbourne! Ben Evans is a fresh promoter who does a really good job and I’ve heard the venue is awesome. You can expect loads of new tunes; all carefully selected and tested worldwide with some of the old greats. Just relax and I’ll take you there! I will also play some of my older hits; and I’ve even done some live versions of Plastic and Heart Quest but otherwise, my sets are pretty random.”

And if that wasn’t enough, he closes with this: “I love you Australia and thank you for Flying U-Recken.” So don’t forget to bring your dancing shoes and boarding passes.
