This might sound a bit clique, but Harvie Krumpet has got to be one of the finest short films from around these parts. Adam Elliott deserved the recognition afterwards (especially that Oscar) and followed it up with a just as good feature film which even got Philip Seymour Hoffman's attention!

The Cat Piano is one of my favourites.
Animated in dark film noir-esque style, with a backbone of rhythmic poetry spoken by Nick Cave, it is a clever, captivating story of a city of jazz cats (literally) and the dark tale that place amongst them. Brilliant. Artful. Damn cool.

It's got to be Bomb, Alister Grierson's short film which won Best Comedy in the 2005 Tropfest Festival!! Under four minutes and absolutely brilliant!!

Miracle Fish. Conjures an eerie vibe as it unspools like the best science fiction/ mystery, but then arrives at the real-world conclusion with a bang. Brilliant. It was very gratifying to see it garner an Oscar nomination.

Mysterious Geographic Explorations of Jasper Morello was fantastic. It had the dark animation and a surprise creepy ending.
