Melbourne just got its first ever greyhound adoption cafe

We’ve found the only cafe you need to check out this weekend. Meet the GAP Cafe, a place where you can stop by for a coffee and come home with a lifetime mate.

GAP Cafe gives retired racing greyhounds shelter, while they wait there until some kind-hearted specimen (i.e, you) comes to bring them home.

You can even bring your own doggos along to chill, with the cafe serving up puppaccinos and doggy doughnuts for them to tuck in to.

“Given the large number of people in metropolitan Melbourne, we want to promote our dogs to the largest audience possible,” said Greyhound Racing Victoria CEO Alan Clayton.

“It can be an adjustment for greyhounds not only to go from life as racing animals to life as pets. Most of them also have to adjust from being based in rural and regional Victoria to suddenly living in metropolitan areas.

“This café will make it easier for people to come into contact with our greyhounds.”
