It has a great variety of family-friendly events planned all year round.  From laneway learning workshops, kids’ arts and crafts and cultural days featuring themed entertainment, live music, traditional food and lots more. You’ll find the freshest produce in the meat, poultry and seafood halls, locally-sourced fresh fruit and vegetables and endless shopping in the market’s blocks, including clothing, handcrafts, homeware and beautiful floral stalls.

How has your market fostered a sense of community? There are many colourful characters in the traders and it makes the community truly unique. The people are what make the Preston Market such a great place to be.

What do you love about the market culture? Many of the traders have been operating stalls for more than 20 years and are extremely passionate about the market and their offerings. The market stalls are a place of gathering for generations of family. It’s full of community, heart and soul.

What is the history behind your market? The market was opened in 1970, following the large influx of European migrants to Melbourne, settling in the Northern suburbs. The market continues to evolve, and the recent addition of new traders and product offerings makes this hidden gem a destination equally suited for the weekly shop or an outing with family and friends.
