Funkoars Hold Up The Bar
Music News
Hilltop Hoods may be the undisputed kings of homegrown hip hop, but Funkoars have been building their own legacy over the last three albums and several years. Coming up with Adelaide's Certified Wise Collective (alongside the Hoods), they've helped set the bar for the local scene. They've also demolished that same bar as they've toured throughout the country.
While 2003's 'Who's Your Step Daddy' was an underground favourite, their partnership with Obese Records in 2006 saw their second LP, 'The Greatest Hits', do some serious business. The Adelaide group toured throughout the country in support and between the first class production and smutty lyrics, they become a major drawcard. 2008's 'The Hangover' continued their winning ways and saw bar tabs spiral dangerously out of control.
While it's been a minute since the last album, the group haven't just been sitting around sinking frosty cold ones. 2009 saw then sign with the Hilltop Hoods' Golden Era Records and release their collaboration with roots artists Ash Grunwald, 'Little Did I Know'. He's joining them on the line-up at the Hi-Fi Bar, Friday February 5.
