Foreign Beggars Are Grimey
Music News
What ever happened to proper names? You know – Stanley, Brian, John. Those are solid British names. Name you can depend on to make you a proper cup of tea and discuss the cricket. These days names are ridiculous. Take Foreign Beggars, even by hip hop and grime standards the guys names are proper stoopid. Seriously though, we're talking MC’s Metropolis and Orifice Vulgatron, Producer Dag Nabbit, Human Beat boxer Shlomo and DJ Nonames.
Since popping up on the scene in 2003 with their Asylum Speakers LP, the UK group has released four albums and a stack of singles. They've also founded their own label, Dented Records, and collaborated with people like Bjork, Gorillaz, Amp Fidler and Corinne Bailey Rae. That's in addition to all the hip hop acts they played alongside.
Basically, they haven't let their names disadvantage them in their quest for the fame and riches. United Colours Of Beggattron, released in 2009, is their latest effort and finds the group leaving behind warm ales and milky tea for Melbourne bitter and shots of vodka. On that note, they're playing Brown Alley Friday April 9.
