The Election And MIFF

It's hard to wade through all the party policy and whatnot sometimes, but this is just a little post about how the election will change things for the Melbourne International Film Festival, which is one of our greatest arts assets and probably the best film festival in the whole country.

Innovation Minister Gavin Jennings announced today that under a future Labor Government, MIFF will receive a $2 million package over four years to help it become really internationall competitive and renowned. The package will celebrate the 60th anniversary of the festival next year, take events to regional Victoria, screen more international film premieres and increase international exposure.

The Libs have offered an additionall $500,000 over four years to develop the Bollywood Film Festival.

That's all pretty nice. Anyway, the rest is up to you.
