Derrick May Returns

Come on, guys – Derrick May needs no introduction.

Along with his highschool buddies Juan Atkins and Kevin Saunderson, the trio often referred to as the Belleville Three are three of the most well-known names part of Detroit’s first wave of techno fiends, responsible for its birth and its introduction to audiences beyond the fabled Motor City. Twenty-five years since his very first release Nude Photo, helping to kickstart the city’s interest in techno, May has had an untold impact on the manner in which techno has grown, evolved and spread, breathing new life into a city and a music scene that was hungry for new and innovative material. It’s been awhile since May was last seen on Australian shores, which is why we’re thoroughly pleased to let you know he’ll be back for what may well be his biggest show yet at the Prince Bandroom. With a run of only three hundred tickets available, this is what it is – an intimate night in with what will likely be one of the most talented DJs to hit Australia this year.

With a venue yet to be announced, lock in the date – Derrick May plays Melbourne on Tuesday April 24.
