The cold is playing hide and seek with us and it’s all a bit confusing. We’re use to this though, right Melbourne? Embracing each day armed with a jumper or two. However sun saying hey or not, one thing’s for sure, winter food always arrives in full force. And this week, our loyal friends at Howler are of the first to warm our stomachs welcoming Tuesday Night ‘Snagspotting’. The night welcomes guests to a choice of Pork, Apple & Fennel Sausages,  Lamb, Rosemary Garlic Sausages or Garlic and Herb Vegan Sauces. On top drizzles Chicken, Peppercorn or Miso gravy accompanied with mash and minted peas. Take this warmth plus a glass of Howler red for $14, and that’s a way to spend a chilly night if you ask me.

Apart from delicious sausages and live music down at Howler, what else is there to do in the cold you ask? Obviously there’s eating heaps and watching movies, but when you want to be a little more social the answer is the St Kilda Film Festival. During the 10 day celebration commencing this Thursday until Saturday May 27, Melbourne can sit back and experience both emerging and established film-makers, producers and directors showcase their impressive film-work. And while you do, enjoy their partner’s fun deals.

St Kilda’s long-time friend Big Mouth are gifting free espresso Martini’s by just presenting your St Kilda Film Festival Ticket, Captain Baxter are doing the old two for one cocktail deal, The New Market Hotel boast $25 for any main and a schooner of tap beer, Republica are spinning $10 pizza’s, Second Act Wine Bar and St. Hotel are taking 25% off everything and The Local Taphouse welcomes you with a glass of Stomping Ground Beer or Proescco with any counter meal you like. So Melbourne, whether you’re north or south, there’s lots of fun going on to feel warm, fuzzy and most definitely inspired.
