This year I was compelled to go to California and volunteer in the national parks over there for three months. It was an incredible experience as people from around the world united to help the environment - tree planting, rubbish removal, fence building.. Hard work but it all paid off whilst restoring a meadow in Sequoia NP and we watched a mother bear bringing her cubs out to play in the sun.. Respect the earth we live in!! xx

I have volunteered to plant trees in my local community. I have also stopped buying plastic water bottles and re-use my own, environmentaly friendly water bottle.

I have tried to be much more calm. Everytime I feel like screaming at a driver during peak hour from my car window I pop on some smooth tunes, sit back and relax. Or when I feel a fight coming on with my boyfriend I suggest we take a nice day trip down the coast. It's nice not to yell at people, ain't it.

During October this year, after saving up money for about 2 years, myself and three other friends traveled to Pattaya in Thailand to work with children under the age of 16 who were living in a large family home. Most of the kids living in the home were living with Hiv & aids, or, they had previously been trafficked by groups of men who needed young kids for the sex trade industry.
After 21 long days of painting, planting tress, planting hedges, digging holes and carrying fresh water long distances. I realized that giving service is often a lot more effective than just donating money to charity's. If i can do something like this, then theres no excuse for anyone not to help the needy..
Im only 16.

I tried to stop being such a knob and getting my fat, ugly head in everyone's faces all the time.

I've changed my career to benefit others in the field of disability work and I am getting alot of satisfaction from seeing the hardships they have to deal with on a daily basis that most of us take for granted.

I travelled to a small village in Sudan with a small group to build an in ground water pump that was supposed to cater for a village of around 200 people. Once the pump was built and the word got out, villages from miles away started to make the long journey to the pump. This is when i realized that more help in our world is needed.
I plan on raising as much money as i can to travel back to sudan to build as many pumps as possible in 2011.

I volunteered to work with children who have been living with cerebral-palsy there whole life. Without any experience in working with kids who had disabilities, I drove for 5 hours up to a camp site on the snowy hills.
This trip was possibly the best thing i've ever done. My eyes were opened and the urge to help is starting to direct my future job plans.

I raised $1890 through sponsorship for the cancer council through a 'girls night in' I hosted in october, I do this every year but this has been the best result so far!!
I have also been reducing my carbon footprint by only driving my car on weekends and using public transport and walking mid week.
