Presented by Maribyrnong City Council and Footscray Community Arts Centre, The Black Arm Band Company will perform murundak for the first time in Melbourne’s west. Murundak meaning “alive” in Woiwurrung language has delighted audiences since its premiere performance in 2006. As a tale of struggle and identity, sweat and blood, guitars and dusty roads, it tells the story of an undiminished spirit. The performance line-up includes Archie Roach, Lou Bennett, Shelle Morris, Bart Willoughby, Emma Donovan, Djolpa McKenzie, Mark Atkins and Stephen Pigram. The uplifting performance will be a tribute to inspirational former member of the Black Arm Ban Company, the late Ruby Hunter, who played a significant role in establishing the groups commitment to using music.
