Dallas Frasca questions Higgsy (King Of The North)...

We're big fans of your band, what gives Adelaide the special edge?

Cafe' De Villes, Fritz and sauce sangas and the punters. There is a love for all things rock, straight up with no bullshit. It's about the music and good times if you catch my drift.

What was it like growing up in the 'City of Churches...

The second annual Rock 'N' Load Festival returns to The Espy in a big way on Saturday June 1st.

The venue's three rooms will be chock-a-block with some of the best live dirty rock acts from Melbourne and interstate. The lineup includes Dallas Frasca, Sydney's The Fumes, The Nerve (featuring Ezekiel Ox and Lucius Borich), King Of The North, Ten Thousand, My Secret Circus,...

Electric Mary are Australia's last great hope for the title of 'Killer Blues-ish Hard Rock Band'. They carry on a lineage which began with the melding of blues structures to rock energy in the late '60s and early '70s and which has continued through artists like Whitesnake, Badlands, Mr. Big and Richie Kotzen. Soulful vocals, monster grooves that the dudes can headbang to and the chicks can...

Well, what a crazy week in metal. Last weekend Black Sabbath played their first show with Ozzy in quite a while, with Ozzy's drummer Tommy Cluefetos standing in for Bill Ward, who is on the outs over a contract dispute. I wouldn't hold your breath for any Australian shows at the moment, but hopefully Tony Iommi's cancer treatment will be successful and they can schedule more shows...

Head down to The Espy to catch Electric Mary (pictured), Bugdust, King Of The North, Ten Thousand, Heaven The Axe...

Adam (Bugdust [pictured]) questions Jason (The Stiffys)…

How hard was it to come up with your band name?

We came up with the band name because we wanted to create the best band name ever and I think we did a really good job because it’s a really good band name. Maybe it’s not the best band name ever, but it’s a really good band name. Most people are really impressed...

King Of The North are a two-piece band with guitar and drums. And yeah, there are a lot of two-piece bands with guitar and drums out there. It's a form which seems to lend itself to a certain style, with thrashing cymbals, lots of floor tom, open-string guitar riffs with ringing notes on top. But KOTN aren't like that. Sure, the drums occupy a lot of space, and the guitar explores the...

When we here at Beat last heard from Ten Thousand in October last year, they were preparing to launch their EP and had just released a video for the track Like A Disease. Now half a year has gone by and the band is starting to see the rewards of their hard work. Not that they weren't before, but the Ten Thousand of May 2012 is a slick, stage-ready rock machine with the rare potential to cross...
