After announcing an arena-sized 2013 Australian tour with Joan Jett And The Blackhearts, glam-rock revivalists The Darkness have been forced to cancel their planned visit due to medical reasons. The full statement reads:   “It is with great regret that we are having to cancel The Darkness' planned April dates in Australia / New Zealand. As some of you maybe aware, Ed has had some prior... Following a sold out 2012 tour, The Darkness will return to Australian shores this April with the accompaniment of Joan Jett. Known for their audacious on-stage rock'n'roll antics, when The Darkness were last in Melbourne,  six years after the release of their debut Permission To Land, our reviewer summed up the performance to say that "when life gives you lemons you grab Justin... Falls Festival Day Three

A new day, more heat, more people huddled like basketball-jersey-wearing sheep (my Rodney Stuckey jersey stays firmly in my bag) under the tents and The Soft Pack suffer mightily for the lack of punters. They’re power-pop done right, and despite heat that would turn Kate Moss into a melted-plastic pile, they fuzz out the early arvo nicely. The traipse to The Village for Graveyard... Read More

A mere six months since her last visit, England’s own sassy, silver-tongued songstress is set to make a return to antipodean shores. It would appear that mutual affection has blossomed: as we prepare once more to welcome Kate Nash with arms wide open, she would appear just as enthusiastic on the eve of the tour. “I love it,” she declares, no hesitation necessary.... Early this year, Interpol parted ways with founding member Carlos Dengler – the bassist who had been with the band since their humble New York City beginnings, and who had stayed with them up until (and through) the recording of Interpol’s fourth, self-titled album, but left at a short time after to pursue other musical interests. Although his spilt with the band was, they... Read More

If you haven’t heard The Morning Benders’ astonishing second album yet, put down this fine publication and go score yourself a copy any which way you can. ( At an independent record store, please – Ed ) Since a relatively quiet release earlier this year, Big Echo been collecting accolades like seashells, including a coveted Best New Music tag from...
