International Big Wigs and Aussie Legends: The first BIGSOUND speaker announcement is here

bigsound1.jpg

Leading the announcement comes two Australian artist keynotes from Archie Roach and Tina Arena. While both of their careers have taken separate routes to success, both have cemented themselves in the Australian music landscape for their ability to cross genres, cultures and ages.

Meanwhile, American tastemakers are heading to Queensland to impart some wisdom including Quentin Tarantino’s music supervisor Mary Ramos – who has been responsible for some of cinema’s most iconic soundtracks including Pulp Fiction and Jackie Brown.

This year will also be a celebration of BIGSOUND successes, with alumni that have signed deals after hype from their previous BIGSOUND Festival performances returning with their international teams.

The Worldwide Independent Network’s (WIN) Alison Wenham will also provide a mini-keynote on the state of the global independent sector. BIGSOUND also welcomes triple j’s Nick Findlay and Zan Rowe, A&R from Trouble In Mind Records, Belmont Bookings and Magnetic Asia, as well as dozens more.

Capping it off comes the announcement of the inaugural Levis Music Prize – a $100,000 annual prize pool that’s set to take BIGSOUND alumni to the next level.
