Tickets to the I OH YOU party were amongst the most coveted of this year’s Melbourne Music Week festival, with the hot little spots selling out weeks ago – way before lots of us even knew the thing was on. How did I get in there, you ask? Fuck you, that’s how. The four young lads who began their Mushroom affiliated label followed faithfully to their tradition (famously begun when they needed...

It must have been one hell of a party. Johann Ponniah, founder of I OH YOU Records, one of Australia’s hippest and increasingly influential labels, began as a party thrown at Ponniah’s share house as a means to help pay overdue utility bills. After he continued to throw parties with some of the country’s up-and-coming DJs and bands, Ponniah launched I OH YOU and has helped establish bands such...

With fans waiting with bated breath and industry onlookers folding their arms discerningly, record release shows present artists with certain challenges. To rise to the occasion and put your best foot forward sounds simple enough. Though in truth, release shows are often make or break evenings.

Ahead of the release of their EP, Movements, local four-piece City Calm Down is...

Recently signed to I OH YOU, and the first band to join the stable that isn’t a filthy shithead rock outfit, City Calm Down are a Melbourne four-piece who favour synths and dance to grunge and bucket bongs. A baritone and clean guitar licks is always going to attract comparisons to Joy Division, but Pleasure & Consequence contains more than a few deft touches which alleviate any chance of...

Shit is gonna get spooky at Workers Club this Halloween, with I OH YOU and Converse putting on a House Of Hell spectacular with a sick-as lineup.

Taking over both levels of the venue will be Violent Soho, Dune Rats, Drunk Mums, W.E.P DJs (World's End Press), Bleeding Knees Club DJs, Oscar + Martin DJs, Two Bright Lakes DJs, City Calm Down DJs, Indian Summer, Airwolf, Jasper,...

Freshly signed to red-hot stable I OH YOU, you get the sense that this is Violent Soho mark II. The Brisbanites didn’t really get the dues they deserved with their debut full-length, and this half of their forthcoming double A-side promises a fully reinvigorated unit. Tinderbox parlays their earlier grunge tendencies into a broader ‘90s alternative palette and throws in a mix of At The Drive-...

Violent Soho have been welcomed into the I OH YOU family.

Following this announcement, the group have revealed that they will release of a 7” vinyl later this year that will feature two brand new singles titled Tinderbox and Neighbour Neighbour.

As you're probably aware, the folks at local stable I OH YOU know how to put on a party. Y'all better brace yourselves, as they've just announced a belter of a June bash.

Headlining proceedings will be red-hot Sydney producer Flume (pictured), who recently slayed it at Vivid LIVE.

Joining in on the action will be rising talents City Calm Down and recent Chet...

This rocking little garage punk tune saw Brisbane’s DZ Deathrays booted off stage during SXSW. It is a mind-melting thing, played live. The recorded version feels very polite by comparison, right up until the squalling, electrified final chorus, when the boys start screaming and hammering their guitars like the snotty pubescent troublemakers they are.

Some of the country's most shit-hot young talent are teaming up for one hell of a party, with DZ Deathrays, Bleeding Knees Club and Yacht Club DJs hitting The Corner for Call The Cops!

Before each of the three headliners make their way up to Splendour In The Grass, they'll be making their way to The Corner for what's set to be a surefire party-hard atmosphere.
