Future Music Festival has remained a solid inclusion in the summer landscape for the past eight years now. The 2014 edition featured an even more EDM-centric lineup than previous rosters, with the list including some of the most prominent DJs currently operating on the world circuit. This also meant that there were inevitably clashes-aplenty, but... first world problems and all that.

Dannic aka Daan Romers, the Dutch DJ and producing maestro from Breda in the Netherlands (hometown of Tiesto and Funkerman among others) won attention early on with his cheeky edits and remixes.  Dannic’s bootlegs of Axwell Vs Julie McKnight How Soon Is Glory and Tim Mason & Laidback Luke Vs. Adele The Moment Is Rolling In God’s Air, made people take notice.

“I started in...

Although Harry Rodrigues posted Harlem Shake to his Baauer Soundcloud page in April 2012, the single didn’t start to take off until a homemade dance video set to its music surfaced online early in 2013. But boy, it sure escalated quickly from there. Unless you were living under a 3G-blocking rock last year, there’s very little chance you avoided the Harlem Shake internet meme. As well as...

There’s been much talk among both artists and the media in the last few years concerning an EDM revolution. The idea has seemingly been confirmed by the increase of electronic sounds in mainstream pop music. However, one of the most respected figures in global electronic dance music for the last two decades, German DJ and producer Paul van Dyk, observes scarce innovation coming out of the...

Future Music Festival just got a whole lot bigger.

Singer, rapper, producer, fashion designer, entrepreneur: Pharrell Williams is one of the biggest names on the planet. The front man of N*E*R*D has spent his recent time collaborating with Daft Punk, topped the charts with his own single Happy, and is currently working on his highly anticipated second solo album.

Eric Prydz may be afraid of flying, but that won’t stop him visiting Australia for the first time ever as a Future Music Festival headliner. “I've been to a lot of other places, but I haven't been to Australia," he notes. "So that alone is a pretty good reason to finally come and do this tour with Future.”

This run of Australian dates will see Eric unveil the...

Artyom Stolyarov, otherwise known as Arty, is something of a dance music prodigy. The Russian DJ and producer came to the world’s attention at the age of 19 with the release of his Vanilla Sky EP. Now aged 24, he tours the world collaborating with huge names like Paul van Dyk and playing shows in Las Vegas and New York. Given that he makes his living as an electronic musician...

It’s often necessary for dance music festivals to specify on their lineups which acts will actually be performing live, as opposed to just DJing. Fans of UK electronic producer Sub Focus (AKA Nick Douwma) will be pleased to observe the “live” tag next to his name on the poster for next year’s Future Music Festival. Speaking from his London studio, Douwma emphasises that his shows are certainly...
