Folk Alliance Australia National Conference Heads To Melbourne For 2014

The FAA’s Youth Development division will launch first details of its new National Youth Performance Touring Project. Folk Alliance Australia President Una McAlinden said, “It is vital that our music industry sector gets together  regularly to work together to build our festivals, organisations and performers, to create opportunities and to inform, network, share ideas and build our skills.”

Conference topics cover Touring, Media & Promotion, Management, Financial and Legal, Funding, Skills Development, Presentation, Recording and Distribution, Networking, Career Development, Getting Gigs and Event Organisation Skills.

Speakers include Paul Mason of the Australia Council for the Arts, Carolyn Logan and Andrew Penney of Penney & Logan Marketing and Promotion, Dave Anderson of Florence Rd Website Development & Festival IT, Kirsty Rivers of the Australasian Performing Rights Association, Pat Hearney of Powa Audio.

Performers include Canada’s Harry Manx (pictured), Eric Bogle OAM, Kavisha Mazella, Women In Docs and David Bridie.

Attending are representatives from Australia Council for The Arts, Volunteering Victoria, Sounds Australia, Strut and Fret Production House, Multicultural Arts Victoria, Blue Mountains Music Festival, , National Folk Festival, Woodford Folk Festival,  Port Fairy Folk Festival, Cygnet Folk Festival, Tarrasphere Productions/World Music Expo, Songlines Indigenous Music, Music Victoria, Regional Arts Victoria and Arts Victoria.
